Adopted Family

Last week I realized that I am one of the farthest people from home I know. All of my roomies and a majority of my other friends were going home to Arizona or California or another place in Utah or Washington. Some of them offered their home to me, but I politely refused, I'd hate to intrude on such a family-oriented event. I wasn't really sure what I was going to do, until I got a call from Daniel's grandmother inviting me to her house in Sandy for Thanksgiving. It's kind of strange being around Daniel's family without Daniel actually being here, but everyone is so welcoming (and they'll be my family soon enough), and my awkwardness is gone after a few minutes.

So when Thanksgiving morning rolled around, I packed up some pumpkin cookies and headed up to Sandy. I was immediately surrounded by children, and spent most of my day with them. I haven't been around little kids in awhile, they really help me unwind and remind me to take time out of life to be silly and have fun!

Here are some adventures with my soon-to-be cousins:

(Morgan and me, one of the smartest 3 year olds I know)

(Bryn and me! She's pretty good at Battleship)

(Sage and me! She's Daniel's favorite, but you didn't hear that from me)

Even though I miss my family a whole ton, it's really nice having an "adopted family" just 45 minutes away, and I'm thankful they're all in my life!

PS: By the time I left Thursday night, every single one of my pumpkin cookies were gone!

Thats pretty awesome just being accepted into some random family. Looks like you had a good break. PS, Oregon is far, 13 hour drive? one day? I guess I can still drive though.

that was really cool of them to let you come over. but what do you mean "soon to be cousins?" - are you engaged?

I'm glad you had a great thanksgiving. I hope everything works out with you and Daniel.
