Meeting In The Middle: Life, yes. Food, not so much.

There are some things that people can't help but argue over. Food is one of them. There is hardly ever a case where two or more parties agree completely on a specific food choice. And that's ok. Food is one of the few things in life that you can have conflicting opinions about and not seriously hurt another's feelings. Yes, I know there are exceptions, "What ifs...?," etc., but I'm speaking in general terms.

While it may not be necessary to agree when it comes to culinary creations, other matters in life are not the case. In my opinion, things like temple marriage, raising a family, and regular scripture study and prayer are nonnegotiable. While not everyone shares my views, it is my responsibility to make sure others know of the importance of these principles in my life and to also keep an open mind and heart when listening to other's opinions. Communication is not a one-way street, everyone must put in equal effort, otherwise words just float around without meaning!

It is acceptable to disagree when discussing certain topics? Absolutely (as long as things don't turn violent!). Should you let it get in the way of your relationship with someone? No way. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, not just yous!

PS: May I just add that I love the fact that I can mention Gospel principles and feel at ease knowing that my readers understand what I'm talking about!

Awesome insights, Jenn! It's very true that although we may not agree with someone's beliefs, we should accept and love them as a person anyway.
