WARNING! Spoiler alert! Do not read if you intend to watch last week's episode of The Office (although I'm sure by now you've heard what happens)!
From the beginning, there has been "something" between Jim and Pam. Most of the characters have been aware of the constant interaction, but Pam's fiance got in the way of any romance. When Pam and Roy's wedding was canceled, JAM fans everywhere rejoiced. When the two finally started dating, we knew this was for real. And it finally happened. This past week, on Season 5's premiere episode, Jim Halpert proposed to Pam Beesly! It was a beautiful moment and there were a dozen Facebook bumper stickers the next day recapping the event. The rest of the season had better be as amazing as that episode, it's going to be a hard one to top though!
It is interesting how Pam and Jim's relationship revolves around food. Jim told Pam he loved her after a dinner outing, they eat lunch together all the time (before Pam left for New York anyway), he was going to propose at a goodbye party (however, another co-worker stole the moment and proposed to his love), and he proposed for real after tempting Pam with a lunch invitation. Food has a way of loosening the tongue, a mixed blessing for most. Picking the right words to say can be agonizing, and with one change in setting, the entire mood is lost and every plan has to be thrown out the window. When Jim proposed to Pam, he simply said, "Pam, will you marry me?" It took Pam a few moments to respond, but her smile was all the answer Jim needed. Just another example that simple words sometimes have the greatest impact.
